Introduction

After successfully completing the Foundation level of the CA course under ICAN, students are required to move on to the next stage, which is the Application level (formerly known as CAP-II). This is the second of the three levels in the ICAN CA program.

The Application level is not a standalone course; it is a direct continuation of the Foundation level. It takes the fundamental knowledge and basic skills students acquired in the initial stage and elevates them to a higher level. A key characteristic of this level is its focus on practical application. The students are not just learning theory but are taught how to use that theory to solve real-world business problems. The course material is designed to be relevant and practical, preparing students for the scenarios they will encounter in their professional careers and during their articleship.

Duration of Application Level

The Application level is a nine-month course.

The proof of such documents shall be uploaded through the student login portal in the website of ICAN. In case, the students are not able to submit required documents within stipulated timeframe or do not meet the eligibility criteria, it will result in the cancellation of provisional registration and the registration fees paid for provisional registration will not be refunded. This process is same as the provisional registration for Foundation level.

Application Level Registration Deadlines

Unlike the Foundation level, the Application level’s registration is open year-round. However, to be eligible to appear for the exams, a student must register at least nine months before the examination date. The Application level exams are conducted twice a year, in June and December.

For December Exams: To be eligible to sit for the Application level exams in December, the last date for registration is the end of February of the same year. This provides the mandatory nine-month period (from March 1st to the end of November) required for eligibility.

Here is a crucial point for students who have just passed their Foundation exams. If a student takes their Foundation exams in December, their results are typically declared in mid-February. This leaves them with a very narrow window of less than 15 days to register for the Application level if they wish to appear for the December exams of that same year.

For June Exams: To be eligible for the Application level exams in June, the last date for registration is the end of August of the preceding year. This allows for the required nine-month period (from September 1st to the end of May) before the exams.

The same time constraint applies to students who have just passed their Foundation exams. If they take their Foundation exams in June, their results are generally published in mid-August. This also gives them a period of less than 15 days to register for the Application level and be eligible for the June exams of the following year.

In summary, while registration for the Application level is technically open all year, students must be mindful of the nine-month waiting period to be eligible for a particular exam session. The most critical takeaway is the extremely short registration window for students transitioning from the Foundation level, which requires them to act quickly once their results are announced to avoid missing the next exam cycle.

  • This is an online test, and the Institute provides criteria, rules, operational guidelines, and a video tutorial to assist students.

For June Exams: The eligibility test must be passed by the middle of March of the same year.
